Jennifer Beals

原文: Cindy Perlman   翻译: Be-Ti-An

这位《The L Word》和《The Chicago Code》的演员如是说。

Jennifer Beals

Jennifer Beals says swimming has become her go-to workout.

Jennifer Beals:

Lake Louise Banff

What She Wants To Do Before Hitting 50

If you ask her how she spent her summer vacation, actress Jennifer

Beals, 48, just sighs.

It was THAT good.

“I swam in Lake Louise this summer and, man, it was cold. But it was

so beautiful to be surrounded by that color and to turn and look up at

the glaciers.

“It just knocked me out,” says the star of “The L-Word” and “Chicago Code.”

“I had to grease my face and my feet. I had on a full wet suit and a

neoprene cap, plus everything else to keep mama warm because it was

really cold.

“I wish I had booties!” she cries.

Beals is past the age where she wore half-shoulder sweatshirts and

spun around the room in “Flashdance.”

She says with aging, you have to find new hobbies and wonder moments.

“I was camping and going, my God, my Internet doesn’t work. How can I

watch my swimming?'”

Her other addiction this summer was the summer Olympics, specifically

the swimming.

JENNIFER BEALS ON THE MOVE

Fans will be happy that she’s also back on screen. She stars in the

WIGS web series “Lauren” on “YouTube.” “Lauren” is a military drama

about a young woman who steps forward to report a sexual assault.

Beals says that when not filming, she’s on the move. She says staying

physically active makes the aging process a breeze.

“I’ve been running this summer. Certainly my swimming has been a lot

stronger than my running.

“I last ran with the rail that goes up from Lake Louise up to the

stairs of a tea house up there. It’s a 11-K turnaround.

“They say, ‘Oh, it’s 11-K, so you think that will be OK,'” she says.

“They don’t tell you that it’s like halfway in or not even halfway in like a third in, it’s all incline.

“It’s beautiful, but I’m running and running and running and running.

I’m thinking, ‘Wow, OK this is really beautiful, but this is really

taking me a very long time.

“I was a beautiful run,” she says.

BEALS: “DON’T OVER-TRAIN.”

Beals says her goals are lofty, but you have to resist over-training.

“I did do an Olympic distance triathlon a couple of year ago and was

training for the half-iron this summer and just trained so badly. I

trained so stupidly. Quite extraordinary, I have to say.”

What did she do wrong?

“I was over training right from the get go and wondering why I was so

weepy and crazy on the bike,” she says.

“I sort of re-thought the whole thing and re-thought how I handled the

recovery. I’m just doing a little bit better, but I just got really

enamored with swimming this summer.

“It’s really like all I want to do is go swim, go, swim, go swim. I

was like a fanatic looking for the next lake.”

“I’d love to run a marathon. I’m hoping before I’m 50, I’ll run a marathon.”

What about the Boston marathon?

“I don’t think I could ever qualify for the Boston marathon,” she

says, laughing. “Like not in a billion years. I don’t think I could

qualify for the Boston marathon. I would be handing out water at the

Boston marathon and half way so.”

“I don’t take it as a race,” she says. “I’ll take it as I finish and

I’m alive. That’s the finishing medal.

GROWING UP ON THE BIG AND SMALL SCREEN

Beals says that aging on screen has been a good thing.

“Past a certain age, you are still the keeper of the hearts and the

keeper of all the emotional stability in the home. I think that’s

really changing in terms of storytelling.”

“For me, the story is always the first and foremost. ”

She usually plays strong women.

“I like the complexity within the characters,” she says. “When

somebody presents as very strong, but isn’t as strong as they appear

it’s interesting.”

“I was camping and going, my God, my Internet doesn’t work. How can I watch my swimming?'”
“They say, ‘Oh, it’s 11-K, so you think that will be OK,'” she says. “They don’t tell you that it’s like halfway in or not even halfway in like a third in, it’s all incline.“是不是可以翻译成:”他们说,’oh,就11公里’,所以你认为跑下来没问题.”
